Adult Offerings

Take the time to do something for yourself. Whether a novice or advanced instrumentalist, life long music enthusiast or someone looking for a place to help promote music, ANMS can fulfill your needs. Private lessons provide a vehicle for personal growth and challenge, while our chamber groups and orchestra open the door to meeting other dedicated students and faculty. The Wolf Series and Con Brio bring musicians to our school so that you can explore many different genres and styles of music. Joining the Friends Society gives you the opportunity to work with other music lovers in securing the school’s future.

 

Private Lessons

Individual instruction is the basis for a life-long appreciation of music. All Newton Music School offers private instruction for a wide variety of instruments and voice. Music Therapy is offered for students with special needs. Students of all ages and levels are placed with our excellent faculty. Our Department Coordinators will match students' needs with an appropriate teacher and assign the lesson, day and time. Students can enroll anytime during the semester, and the tuition will be prorated accordingly. If you have any further questions about private lessons, feel free to contact our Department Coordinators.

Volunteer

Building and nurturing a community music school is truly a community effort, and we are deeply grateful to all of our extended family for their generous gifts of time, dollars and expertise. Volunteers are the backbone of a community music school and are generally drawn from, but certainly not limited to, our students and family members. ANMS continues its 99 year history because of the invaluable support of its talented volunteers. ANMS welcomes volunteers in every way, including help at recitals, concerts and general office support. Please join us, and be a part of our wonderful school. Wolf Concert Series

Named for former director Andrew Wolf, Our premier concert series brings world-class musicians to Newton. Click here for information and tickets. Notable past performers have included the Keith Lockhart, Conductor of Boston Pops; pianist, Yo-Yo Ma, cellist, Joseph Silverstein, violinist, Richard Stolzman, clarinetist, Doc Severinsen, trumpter, Boris Goldovsky, opera imprasario, Peter Serkin, pianist and Lorraine Hunt Lieberson, Mezzo-Soprano.

 

Con Brio Concerts

This popular conert/luncheon series has delighted audiences for over 39 years. At many of these informal concerts, ANMS hosts students from all over the Greater Boston area, thus offering them the opportunity to be introduced and to enjoy music, becoming live long music lovers.
